THE TRUTH ABOUT LUXURY CARS

(My personal opinion.. take it or leave it)

I have been detailing, repairing,collecting and selling, luxury vintage automobiles  for almost 30 years now, and I think I can give you a pretty good opinion on what to buy or keep.. The simple fact today is that most cars are not built to last. They are built to make a good profit for mostof the greedy Auto industry in order to generate constant flow of new car sales and profitable leases. That, and of course supplying new model replacement parts and service guaranteed to put you in the poor house fast. Gone are the days where the big (3) Mercedes,BMW & Jaguar were competing for the rights to be call ....(THE BEST)car producer's of the world.

From what I've heard, most of the top Automotive Engineers decided years agao that luxury cars needed to be made more like the standard production standard economy cars. Shall we say, the FORD way or Toyota way.. "no pun intended". It all boiled down to lowering the prices and competing with the rest of the cheapies on an "even playing field". Of course, by lowering the prices, one must lower the quality of both parts and custom finishing labor elements. Thus a cheaper and simplified end result. It is said, that most of these cars are only designed to last 5 years or less. In fact, with new green friendly parts, they are basically considered disposable.

With that being said.. the conclusion everyone should understand is that most REAL LUXURY & QUALITY cars, even with-in the Big (3) auto maker's ended a few years ago. What you see today is by no means the quality of yesterdays.

Strangely enough, many of today's new car engineers will admit to that fact.  Most would say they were forced to change their ways in order to generate high profits "number one" and with that, simplified components assembled by robotics in countries with affordable labor rates and general overheads.

Today most CARS.. are made from much cheaper parts, many from in China, Mexico ... all in the name of yielding better net profits while appearing to offer quality after a quick overview, by a population who are brain-washed to always think "NEW IS BETTER".

WHAT A SAD STATE OF CONFUSION AND DECEPTION

IN CONCLUSION, I BELIEVE, if you are looking for quality and fine detailing, stick with the golden years of the BIG THREE - Mercedes, BMW & JAGUAR

Exceptions may apply, but generally speaking (my opinion is that) 1980 - 1997 rates as the BEST. NOte: Some quality selected makes and models can even be found in recent production years, including this year, but few indeed.
